Ringtones

Love them or loathe them, ringtones are one of the most popular means of personalising mobile phones.  APRA|AMCOS offer comprehensive blanket licences for ringtone providers.

There are two rights involved in the process of making and supplying ringtones:

  • the reproduction of works and
  • the communication to the public of those works.

Both these rights may be exercised multiple times.
In summary, the following tariffs (excluding GST) apply under our licence schemes:

  • $11 one-off fee for each new work; and
  • the higher of 12% of the end-user (consumer) retail price or the aggregate end-user total revenue – or 18c per ringtone.

Licensing of Other Mobile Phone Music Services

APRA|AMCOS also have agreements available for other mobile-based music applications including call tunes (aka ringback tones), song dedication services, karaoke-ringtones and other content delivered via proprietary mobile networks and our account representatives are happy to discuss with you licence arrangements for new mobile phone music services.
