Children's Music Awards

Started in 2008, the Children's Music Awards strive to highlight & support the New Zealand Songwriters & Composers that write for our nation's children. APRA sponsors two awards- the APRA Children's Song of the Year and the What Now Childen's Music Video of the Year. The Awards are held annually in Christchurch as part of StarFest, the finale event of Christchurch City Councils two-week KidsFest.

Entries are now open for the APRA Children's Song of the Year and What Now Children's Music Video of the Year!

The APRA Children’s Song of the Year, judged by an independent panel, celebrates the songwriters and composers who write for the children of New Zealand. The winner of the Children’s Song of the Year will be awarded $1000 prize along with a framed certificate.

The What Now Children’s Music Video of the Year celebrates the songwriters, composers and video makers who have made a music video for New Zealand children. All entries are judged by an independent judging panel that have been chosen on their expertise on children’s music and eye for quality and innovative video production. The top three videos are chosen, and then it is over to the children to chose! Shown on kids TV programme What Now for 3 weeks leading up to the Children’s Music Awards, it is over to the kids to vote on their favourite video out of the Top 3. The winner of the Children’s Video of the Year will receive priceless promotion from having their video run of What Now for 4 weeks, as well as a framed certificate.
